Knowing now what you do, what would you tell your 18 year old self?

“Slow down to speed up.” When we are younger and more immature, the impatience and emotion of business challenges can be overwhelming. What we think or perceive to be a “huge” deal, could just be a small bump in the road. Take a step back, think through the challenge and act with intent and purpose. 

What brings you the greatest joy?

I absolutely love seeing members of my team grow, succeed and overcome obstacles in their way. Managing a team of talented and ambitious individuals is definitely the most difficult, but also most rewarding part of my job. Being a strong leader and coach takes a tremendous amount of time and dedication. Being able to witness the progression of individuals on my team is absolutely my greatest joy in business.


If you could be anything or anyone, what would you be?

Honestly… I love what I am doing now!

What’s your edge?

A determination and hunger to implement calculated risk excellence as a core pillar of our creative culture. Nothing great ever happened from playing things too safely. 

What inspires you?

My wife and my daughters inspire me to be the best version of myself every single day.

What do you want to be remembered for? 

I want to be remembered for how I treat people – respect, compassion and support. People will forget great marketing campaigns, business accomplishments or revenue growth metrics… But people will always remember how you treated them and how you supported them in times of need. 

What leadership qualities do you possess that has lead to your success?

My goal is always to be clear, fair and honest. Furthermore, the most important leadership quality I have learned, is to be myself. We have this idea of what leaders are supposed to look like and act like… But at the end of the day, the best leaders, in my mind, are genuine. I always strive to be transparent with goals, feedback and information; objective with personal and business evaluations and available when individuals on my team require additional support.

Craftsmanship, quality, comfort and a bit of edge.

What alchemy makes a positive partnership/ambassador, whether that be with an athlete, cultural leaders or activists? How do you start the search?

First and foremost, all of our ambassadors absolutely must be a reflection of our values as a brand. It takes a special and unique individual to partner with a challenger brand. Have a fearlessly independent mindset is a key attribute that we look for in a global ambassador for New Balance.
